Today, the majority of teenagers have their own computers and connection to the Internet. They have access to any kind and degree of violent content and anything else one could imagine. Interactive media might cause a new dimension of potential harm as users participate and become emotionally involved in activities that are violent. Most Kazakhstani teenagers have signed up on social networking sites such as Vkontakte and Facebook. Moreover, beside communication with friends, they may have virtual communication with people whose identities are completely unknown. Print media are readily available to all children in their homes, schools, libraries, and throughout the community, however adults generally have control over their selection and distribution and can monitor their content. Electronic media might cause greater issues because it is less open to parental check-up, particularly the Internet access through cell phones and other hand-held devices such as IPhones or IPads. In the case of cable TV, DVD, and the Internet, parents may have no knowledge of the content and very little control over the exposure.
